"At the same time you are looking outside, look inside your own heart. The eyes are looking outside, but you are looking inside. This is double-arrowed attention." -Dr. Vasant Lad
What is Pranayama?
"Pranayama is an art and has techniques to make the respiratory organs to move and expand intentionally, rhythmically, and intensively" - B.K.S. Iyenger. Pranayama are breathing techniques. Prana means life force. Ayama means "expansion". Pranayama provides techniques to where prana can be navigated to expand beyond our boundaries to attain higher vibrations of awareness. Beverly tends to focus on the power of pranayama per client needs and utilizes the control of breath in recommendations. What is Ayurvedic Yoga? Ayuryoga® is Ayurvedic Yoga where Yoga and Ayurveda collide. As sister sciences, Ayurveda and Yoga complement each other. Created by Dr. Lad, Beverly's Ayuryoga® training focused on an approach where the personal yoga practice is tailored to what an individual needs. Pranayama, asana, mudra, and meditation are used alongside Ayurvedic suggestions of diet, lifestyle, oil treatments, and herbs to create a body, mind, soul approach to health. What happens in an Ayuryoga® consultation? Asana, or yoga postures, and pranayama are incorporated into your protocol with detail explanation and description for your home practice. The prakruti, innate constitution, and vikruti, imbalance, are considered per individual. Based on your initial consultation, we will examine the right pranayama and asana for you to fit into your personal schedule. Your personalized protocol will also include diet, lifestyle, and herbs. |
